On Thursday, June 25, the Brownsburg Town Council President issued a proclamation recognizing the 250th Anniversary of American Independence.
Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Wa-Pe-Key Chapter were present for the reading.
Full text of the proclamation is available below:
Whereas, in 1776, the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, affirming the fundamental principles that all people are created equal and entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; and
Whereas, the American Revolution and the founding of the United States were shaped by the courage, sacrifice, and perseverance of patriots seeking self-governance and liberty; and
Whereas, the history of the United States includes extraordinary achievements and ongoing efforts to fulfill the nation’s founding ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity for all; and
Whereas, in 2026, the United States commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of our nation; and
Whereas, the Town of Brownsburg honors this historic milestone through its annual July 4 celebration in partnership with the Brownsburg Lions Club; and
Whereas, Brownsburg will further commemorate this anniversary through the Brownsburg Field of Honor in November, featuring 26 historic flags alongside 500 flags displayed; and
Whereas, the Town of Brownsburg appreciates the efforts of community organizations, including the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Wa-Pe-Ke-Way Chapter, for preserving and sharing the stories, values, and history that continue to shape our nation and community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Town of Brownsburg hereby recognizes and celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, honors the enduring ideals expressed in the Declaration of Independence, and encourages all residents to reflect on our history, celebrate the progress of our nation, and look toward the future.
