Located just about 20 miles west of downtown Indianapolis, Brownsburg is a safe, engaging, and inclusive community, making it a wonderful place to live and thrive as an individual or family. This post will provide you with some insight into what Brownsburg has to offer as you settle into your new home!

Know Your First Responders

Brownsburg has consistently been ranked as one of the safest communities in Indiana for 11 years, making it the only Hendricks County community to receive such accolades. It is served by its own Police Department and the Brownsburg Fire Territory, shared with Brown and Lincoln Townships.


During an emergency, it’s normal to call 911; however, each of these agencies has a non-emergency line for the other operations they handle in the Town:

Find Your Council Member

The Town of Brownsburg follows a Council-Manager form of government consisting of a legislative and executive body—the Town Council—elected by popular vote and responsible for policy making. A Town Manager hired by the Town Council manages daily operations and serves as the chief executive officer. The elected Clerk-Treasurer serves as a chief financial officer.


Make sure you know who your Town Council representative is – and how to contact them when the need arises. Current members of the Brownsburg Town Council are Travis Tschaenn, Ben Lacey, Glenn Adams, Cindy Hohman, and Matt Simpson. Town Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Room, 61 N. Green St. Meetings are open to the public in-person and streamed live at https://www.brownsburg.org/591/Live-Archived-Meetings.


All election information, including important dates and where to vote, is available through Hendricks County: https://www.co.hendricks.in.us/department/index.php?structureid=40. If you need to register to vote or update your address, visit https://indianavoters.in.gov.

Access Water Utilities

The Town of Brownsburg is responsible for providing water and wastewater (sewer) services for the residents and businesses within Town limits. Customers can view rates, apply for service, and pay bills with the Utility Billing Department https://www.brownsburg.org/236/Utility-Billing-Department. All other utilities, including trash, electricity, gas, and internet, are available through local providers based on home location.

The Town of Brownsburg offers over 300 acres of land and 20 miles of trails within its parks system. The parks feature various terrain trails, playgrounds, a dog park, fitness equipment, and more. No matter your age, you can look forward to spending quality time with family and friends when you visit our parks.
