The splash pad at Williams Park will reopen to the public on Saturday, May 31, at 10 a.m. with a grand opening ceremony, celebrating its recent upgrades. It will be open for public use after 11 a.m.
Originally built in 2015, the 10-year-old facility has undergone significant improvements, including expanded play areas, additional water features, and upgraded drainage. The underground water lines have also been enhanced to improve functionality. To provide more comfort for visitors, new picnic tables with umbrellas have been added, offering extra shade for supervising adults, while shade sails remain throughout the play space.
The splash pad, located at the back of Williams Park at 940 S. Locust Ln., will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. through August 31. It will be closed on Tuesdays for maintenance until 3:30 p.m. and may close at any time due to maintenance or severe weather. The temperature must be at least 72 degrees for the splash pad to operate.
The aquatic play facility provides fun for the whole family with interactive spray and play features. This zero-depth splash pad offers a variety of water sensations, including flowing, misting, and jetting. With over 30 features spread across three distinct play areas, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The toddler bay includes smaller, gentle spray features designed for little ones, while the teen bay offers exciting spray cannons and splashing effects. Families can come together in the shared bay, which now features a thrilling 21-foot-tall tipping bucket that pours 40 gallons of water every 5-6 minutes.
Each sequence lasts 4 minutes before the activator needs to be pushed again. The splash pad uses a 3,000-gallon recirculation tank for water treatment. UV and chemical treatments keep the water as clean and safe as possible.
Looking ahead, the adjacent playground will be resurfaced with a rubber pour-in-place surface, creating a safer and more comfortable transition for kids as they move between the playground and splash pad.
