Brightly Art Studio Welcomes New Owner, Krista Tschaenn

Brightly Art Studio, located on Main Street in Brownsburg, has entered an exciting new chapter under the ownership of Krista Tschaenn, a familiar face in the community and at the studio.

Krista joined Brightly in 2021, just before the studio moved to its current location. As a stay-at-home mom looking for a fulfilling return to work, she quickly embraced the opportunity to teach art classes and later took on additional responsibilities as Studio Director.

Originally from the westside of Indianapolis, Krista attended Ball State University for Art Education before earning her Business Management degree at Marian University. She and her husband Travis have called Brownsburg home since 2011, raising their three children and two dogs here.

“Brownsburg is special in that it has this magical way of feeling like a small town without actually being small at all,” Krista says, reflecting on the community’s charm and connections.

Krista’s decision to take over Brightly was born out of passion and a desire to preserve the studio’s impact. When former owner and founder Laura Gambrel considered closing, Krista couldn’t imagine Brownsburg without Brightly. Laura and her team have created such a bright, creative space for the community to explore their creativity, it’s hard to imagine the area without Brightly!

“I love Brightly so very much,” she shares. “I knew if I didn’t say something, I’d regret it forever.” After a heartfelt conversation, the transition began, solidifying Krista’s vision for Brightly’s future.

Looking ahead, Krista’s goal is simple yet profound: “I want every person in Hendricks County to experience Brightly and realize they are, in fact, an artist.”

The studio offers classes for all ages—from toddlers to adults—providing a space where creativity thrives. They also offer summer camps that quickly fill up!

Krista credits her husband’s involvement in local government and her own experiences on the boards of the Brownsburg Education Foundation as inspirations for their shared dedication to the Brownsburg community.

As the new owner, Krista invites everyone to experience the joy Brightly brings. “Brightly Art Studio is like the Marie Kondo of Brownsburg—we just want to spark joy,” she says.

If you haven’t visited yet, consider this your formal invitation!
