Brownsburg invites residents to join community leaders, first responders, and neighbors to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks during a special 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Friday, September 11, at Arbuckle Commons, 7249 Arbuckle Commons.
The evening will begin with a Reading of the Names at 4:30 p.m., when members of the Brownsburg Fire Territory will read the names of the men, women, and children who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks.
The 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony will follow at 6 p.m. at the Brownsburg 9/11 Memorial and will include:
- Presentation of Colors
- National Anthem
- Welcome
- Prayer/Benediction
- Remarks from Fire Chief Larry Alcorn
- A 9/11 remembrance from members of the artifact recovery team
- Remarks from Police Chief Joe Grimes
- Laying of the Wreath
- Ringing of the Bell Ceremony
- Taps
- Amazing Grace
- Closing Prayer
The Brownsburg 9/11 Memorial features a 1,500-pound steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center following its collapse. The artifact was transported to Brownsburg by members of the Brownsburg Fire Territory and dedicated in 2019 as a permanent tribute to the victims, survivors, and first responders of September 11. Positioned as it stood in the Twin Towers, the beam points toward New York City, serving as a powerful reminder of the resilience and unity that followed one of the nation’s darkest days.
The ceremony is free and open to the public. Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend as Brownsburg joins communities across the country in honoring those who lost their lives and the heroes who answered the call to serve.
