Town of Brownsburg Recognizes Employees of the Year

The Town of Brownsburg proudly recognized two outstanding team members as part of its annual Employee of the Year Awards, honoring individuals who exemplify dedication, teamwork, and exceptional service to the community. This year’s honorees are Dave Albertson, Ignitor of the Year, and Jamilah Vanholten, Rookie of the Year.

Ignitor of the Year: Dave Albertson
Dave Albertson, Maintenance Technician III who has worked for the Town since 2010, was selected as the Ignitor of the Year for his exceptional work ethic and unwavering commitment to ensuring that Town facilities and events operate smoothly.

One of Dave’s most notable contributions was his leadership over the Brownsburg’s first Field of Honor event. From concept to execution, Dave took full ownership of the project, coordinating the layout and installation of 250 flags, preparing each component, mapping placements, driving stakes, and overseeing lighting and safety throughout the week. His countless hours of preparation allowed staff and volunteers to install the display smoothly and safely.

Beyond the Field of Honor, Dave’s dedication is evident year-round. He works to ensure Town operations continue without interruption, handling snow removal, building preparation, system maintenance, and event support. He has also stepped in to manage critical contracts across multiple Town facilities, and regularly supports the Parks and Police Departments.

Rookie of the Year: Jamilah Vanholten
Jamilah Vanholten, Youth Services Manager, was named Rookie of the Year in recognition of her positive energy and immediate impact as a new team member. Since joining the Town of Brownsburg in February, Jamilah quickly became known for her preparedness, creativity, and ability to engage others with enthusiasm and professionalism.

During summer camp operations, returning staff praised Jamilah’s onboarding and communication as the best they had experienced, contributing to one of the most successful camp seasons to date. She demonstrates a strong understanding of cost recovery and program goals, ensuring that planning is both creative and fiscally responsible.

“The Town of Brownsburg is fortunate to have employees like Dave and Jamilah who excel in their roles and elevate those around them,” said Town Council President Ben Lacey.

The Town congratulates both honorees and thanks them for their continued service and commitment to Brownsburg.
