Virgil Park, Brownsburg’s newest park, is located at 9145 E. County Rd 300 N.! Spread across over six acres, Virgil Park is a crucial addition to Brownsburg’s outdoor recreation scene. It provides convenient access to the popular B&O Trail, a favorite destination for visitors annually.
In addition to providing a trailhead for the B&O Trail, the park features a network of trails that stretch over half a mile. These trails wind through the natural wetlands and prairies, with a boardwalk that lets you experience the park’s beauty and view wildlife up close. The park also offers an exercise area with top-notch fitness equipment, a picnic shelter, a year-round restroom facility, and a playground. The playground is made of several natural elements like logs and stones to encourage jumping and climbing.
Virgil Park was named after Hall and Diana Virgil, who were instrumental in creating the B&O Trail. The Virgils worked tirelessly to transform the abandoned B&O Railroad line into a popular trail for walkers, runners, and cyclists.

Thanks to the Land & Water Conservation Fund Grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and National Park Service, combined with the Town’s Park Impact Fees, the construction of Virgil Park became a reality. In May 2023, the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County awarded a grant for outdoor fitness equipment, further enhancing the park’s appeal for fitness enthusiasts.
Besides its recreational facilities, Virgil Park will also serve as a vital resource for Brownsburg’s native plant and animal species. It promotes the growth of prairies and woodlands, which protect and nurture a multitude of wildlife species. The park’s natural wetlands and prairies are a haven for pollinators, making it an important addition to the community.
