The Town of Brownsburg encourages all residents and visitors to enjoy our trail system safely and responsibly. Please review the following guidelines before using the trails:
Permitted & Prohibited Uses
Motor vehicles are not permitted on trails. This includes driving, parking, or otherwise obstructing the trail. Motorized cycles, bicycles powered solely by a motor, and motorized devices such as e-scooters and electric unicycles are also prohibited.
E-bikes are defined as bicycles equipped with pedals and an electric motor that provides assistance while pedaling. On Brownsburg trails, pedal-assist e-bikes are permitted in accordance with local ordinance and must follow all posted trail rules, including the 15 mph speed limit. E-bikes powered solely by a motor, or those exceeding legal limits, are not permitted on trails.
Exceptions include:
- Pedal-assist e-bikes
- ADA-compliant personal mobility devices
- Public safety and maintenance vehicles performing official duties
- Hoverboards, power wheels, and other small recreational devices
- Motorized wheelchairs and scooters used by elderly or disabled individuals
All trail users must follow the posted 15 mph speed limit.
Trail Etiquette & Right-of-Way
- Keep to the right side of the trail at all times
- Signal when passing (either by bell or orally)
- Yield the right-of-way to others when appropriate
- Skaters, joggers, and bicyclists must yield to pedestrians
- All trail users must yield to vehicles at trail crossings
- Pedestrians should stop and look both ways before all trail crossings
