Brownsburg has been ranked among the Safest Suburbs in America by SmartAsset, at #17 nationwide. This places Brownsburg in the top 5% of safe suburbs across the country, alongside other Indiana communities like Noblesville, Fishers, and Carmel.
This recognition reflects Brownsburg’s ongoing commitment to public safety. While Indiana law requires law enforcement officers to complete at least 24 hours of continuing education annually, Brownsburg officers have averaged more than 117 hours of training annually since 2020. In addition, the Police Department actively builds relationships and trust through community programs like Police & Fire Summer Camp, National Night Out, and Women’s Self-Defense classes, all designed to foster engagement and empower residents to take an active role in safety.
SmartAsset analyzed 360 suburbs located 15–45 minutes from the 100 largest U.S. cities, each with a population of at least 5,000. Rankings were based on FBI crime statistics, county health data, and demographic information. Additional factors included rates of violent and property crime, vehicular mortality, and excessive drinking.
