Nestled in a neighborhood plaza, Spice Club, at 2679 S. Green St., has quickly become a culinary gem for those seeking authentic Indian cuisine. With roots in the hospitality industry spanning over eight years, the restaurant is the product of a dedicated team eager to fill a gap in ethnic dining options on the west side of Indianapolis.

A Vision for Community

The owner, Himan Garg, a long-time Hoosier and restaurant owner, saw an opportunity to create a neighborhood hangout in Brownsburg.

“There aren’t many ethnic cuisine options in this area,” he explained. “With a growing population, it’s essential to serve the community.”

The choice of Brownsburg was strategic, influenced by the restaurant’s prime location bordering several neighborhoods. This allows for a relaxed atmosphere where locals can bike over for a casual meal, enjoy a drink at the bar, or sit at the outdoor patio.

What Sets Spice Club Apart

Spice Club stands out not only for its delicious food but also for its commitment to inclusivity. As the owner points out, the menu offers a plethora of vegan, vegetarian, and halal options, accommodating various dietary preferences.

“All of our meats are 100% halal, and we easily cater to gluten-free diets,” he added.

This focus on diverse dietary needs reflects a growing awareness of food preferences and restrictions, making Spice Club a welcoming destination for all.

Culinary Inspirations

The restaurant’s menu features a thoughtful blend of traditional Indian dishes and contemporary fusion creations. Classics such as butter chicken and malai kofta are complemented by innovative offerings inspired by chefs from around the globe. All the food on the menu is created from scratch using premium ingredients.

The team strives to provide dishes that resonate with long-time fans of Indian cuisine and introduce newcomers to the rich flavors and variety of South Asian food. The owner emphasizes that they aim to present a twist on traditional meals, creating a dining experience that cannot be easily replicated at home.

Also featured on the menu are Indian takes on popular American dishes, such as chicken wings in tikka marsala sauce and french fries tossed in a spicy and tangy sauce and topped with garnishes.

“We love to introduce our guests to foods they are familiar with and then get them comfortable trying new things on our menu,” Himan noted.

Spice Club offers a full bar with an extensive drink menu in addition to their delicious food. The drink menu caters to all tastes and preferences, featuring a wide selection of classic cocktails, innovative concoctions, and a carefully curated collection of spirits from around the world. Enjoy a perfectly mixed martini, savor a craft beer, or indulge in one of their signature drinks.

Since its opening, Spice Club has evolved through menu adjustments based on customer feedback. Items that don’t resonate are replaced with new offerings, keeping the dining experience fresh for regulars. “We’re selling a service, not just a meal,” Himan noted, underscoring the importance of genuine hospitality in the restaurant’s mission.

As Spice Club continues to build a loyal customer base, the future looks bright. Plans to expand outdoor seating and introduce seasonal menu changes are on the horizon. Owner Himan expressed optimism about their growing presence in the community, noting the joy of hearing from first-time diners who feel they’ve finally found comfort food that reminds them of home.
